Our Work In Action

At Hope Foundation, we believe that service to humanity is the highest calling. In an interview with The Times of India in October 2001, Major S.K. Lamba, our Managing Trustee, shared a simple yet powerful thought:

“One doesn’t need to be a wealthy man to make a difference. I am merely conscious of the good qualities a person should have and I try my utmost to tap into them.”

True to this vision, Major Lamba has dedicated his life to selfless service. Through the Hope Foundation, he has spearheaded numerous initiatives that have transformed lives—quietly, compassionately and effectively.

Charitable Dispensary

A pillar of our healthcare outreach, the charitable dispensary provides free medical care to the poor, underprivileged, and to the students and staff of St. Joseph’s School, Colaba. In deserving cases, we connect patients with specialist care when needed. Free medicines are to all patients provided by the clinic in the deserving cases, we assist with reimbursement of medical bills for medicine not available in the clinic.

School Health Program (SHP)

Launched in 1985, our School Health Program was a trailblazer in school-based child healthcare in India. Under this initiative, we maintain individual Health-Books for each student, recording annual medical check-ups. At a time when institutionalised child health services in schools were virtually non-existent, this programme marked a path-breaking step forward.

Staying true to our guiding motto, “Help Other People Ever,” we provide weekly dry ration kits — currently 1 kg Atta to 300 underprivileged individuals every Thursday. Beneficiaries include residents of slums, and tribal hamlets near Peth village in Raigad District.

Child Education & Care

We believe that education is the strongest pillar of empowerment. Through focused intervention, school enrolment, health monitoring and personal mentorship, we help children from underprivileged backgrounds pursue their dreams against all odds.

Nurturing Dreams

Meet Anandi

The daughter of a marginalised single mother, whose life took a remarkable turn a decade ago when she was informally adopted for educational support by the Hope Foundation.

What began as a small gesture of compassion soon blossomed into a story of inspiration. Anandi was first enrolled in an Army Pre Primary School, where she began building her academic foundation. Recognising her potential, she was later admitted to St. Joseph’s School, Colaba — and she hasn’t looked back since.

Today, Anandi stands tall as a class topper, brimming with confidence and determination. Her dream?

I want to become a Collector and help others, just like Hope Foundation helped me.”

Her journey is a shining example of how a single act of support can change the trajectory of a life.

Cancer Patient Counselling

Since 2022, we have been conducting weekly counselling sessions every Sunday for cancer patients at INHS Asvini Naval Hospital. Along with emotional support, each patient receives a fruit basket and a copy of Petals—a motivational booklet of affirmations authored by Major Lamba himself.

    COVID-19 Response

During the height of the COVID-19 pandemic, Hope Foundation intensified its outreach—providing medical support, arranging specialist referrals, mobilising funds and coordinating relief with community clubs and local authorities. Even amidst crisis, the Foundation stood firm in its mission of service.

    Animal Welfare

We are committed to the care and protection of stray animals, especially dogs and cats in the Colaba area. In line with the Fundamental Duty under Article 51(A)(g) of the Indian Constitution, our initiatives include healthcare, sterilisation, immunisation and respectful cremation of deceased animals—carried out with dignity and love.
